1. Scope and controller
This Privacy Policy explains how WezoPlayer processes personal data when you visit the website, download or use the Windows application, purchase or activate WezoPlayer Pro, contact support, or use online features.
The controller for WezoPlayer's own processing is , trading as WezoPlayer, at . Some third-party providers, especially Paddle for buyer/payment processing, act independently for their own processing.
2. Data we process
2.1 Website technical data
Website delivery and security providers may process IP address, request time, requested URL, browser or user-agent information, approximate network location derived from IP, security signals and diagnostic logs. This is generally necessary to deliver and protect the site.
2.2 Local media, history and settings
WezoPlayer is primarily a local desktop media player. Your video files remain on your computer unless you deliberately use an online feature or send material to support. The application may create local library records, title matches, episode information, watch history, resume positions, subtitle preferences, settings, caches and logs on your device.
Core playback does not require uploading your video file to WezoPlayer. Local AI subtitle generation and AI translation are designed to process media locally on your computer.
2.3 Optional onboarding demographics
On first installation, WezoPlayer may ask optional questions about age range, country or region and gender. You may skip all of them. In the current installer these answers are stored locally only when you provide at least one answer. Completing installation does not by itself transmit those answers to WezoPlayer servers. If a future release transmits demographic analytics, this Policy and any required consent or notice will be updated before that processing is enabled.
2.4 Online metadata and subtitle requests
When you use online metadata, title matching or subtitle search, WezoPlayer may send information needed to perform the request, such as title, release information, season or episode numbers, language preferences, identifiers, hashes or other media-identification data, together with normal network metadata. Requests may pass through WezoPlayer infrastructure and/or third-party providers.
2.5 Licensing and device data
If you activate Pro, we may process license or entitlement identifiers, activation status, a device identifier or device-derived token, application version, timestamps, IP/network metadata and information needed to enforce the permitted activation count, prevent abuse and provide support.
2.6 Purchase and billing data
Purchases are processed by Paddle as Merchant of Record / authorised reseller. Paddle handles checkout, payment details, taxes, receipts, fraud prevention, refunds and buyer support. WezoPlayer may receive transaction identifiers, entitlement status, product purchased, transaction state and limited buyer/contact information needed to fulfil and support the license. WezoPlayer does not need to receive your full payment-card number.
2.7 Support communications
If you contact us, we process the information you provide, which may include your name, email address, phone number, message, license or transaction references, screenshots and log files. Logs can contain file paths, filenames and technical environment details; review sensitive filenames or paths before sending a log.
2.8 Analytics and diagnostics
The current static marketing site is designed without third-party advertising trackers or behavioural advertising. Operational diagnostics may be processed where necessary for security and reliability. Non-essential analytics will only be enabled with any notice or consent required by applicable law.
3. Purposes and legal bases
We process personal data as necessary to provide requested website/app/license/support functionality; perform a contract or take requested pre-contract steps; secure services and prevent fraud or abuse; diagnose faults and maintain reliability; comply with legal, accounting, tax and consumer-protection obligations; and pursue legitimate interests such as service security and misuse prevention where those interests are not overridden by your rights. Where applicable law requires consent, we rely on consent for the relevant optional processing.
4. Service providers and recipients
Limited data may be processed by or disclosed to providers where necessary to operate WezoPlayer, including Cloudflare for DNS, security, CDN/Workers/static hosting and related infrastructure; Paddle for checkout, Merchant of Record services, tax, fraud checks, receipts, refunds and buyer support; TMDB for movie/TV metadata and imagery where used; subtitle providers such as OpenSubtitles and/or SubDL depending on the configured release; infrastructure providers supporting API, database, object storage, monitoring or email; and professional advisers or authorities where legally required.
Third-party providers have their own privacy notices and terms. We do not sell personal data for money and the current marketing site is not designed for cross-context behavioural advertising.
5. International transfers
Providers may process data in countries other than your own. Where applicable data-protection law requires transfer safeguards, the relevant controller or processor will rely on an adequacy decision, approved contractual safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses, or another lawful transfer mechanism.
6. Retention
We keep personal data only as long as reasonably necessary for its purpose and applicable legal, security, accounting and dispute-resolution requirements. Local library/history/settings data remains on your device until you remove it or clear/uninstall the relevant data. Server operational logs are kept for limited diagnostic/security periods. License and transaction records may be retained for the life of an entitlement and afterwards where necessary for fraud prevention, accounting, legal claims or support. Support correspondence may be retained while a case is active and for a reasonable period afterwards. Paddle retains payment and tax records under its own legal obligations.
7. Your privacy rights
Depending on the law applicable to you, you may have rights to access, correct, erase, restrict or object to processing, receive portable data, withdraw consent, or complain to your local supervisory authority. Residents of certain U.S. states may also have rights to know/access, correct, delete, obtain a copy, and opt out of certain sale, sharing, targeted advertising or profiling. We do not currently sell personal information or use the marketing site for cross-context behavioural advertising.

8. Cookies and similar technologies
The current static marketing site does not intentionally set non-essential advertising or behavioural-analytics cookies. Infrastructure providers may use strictly necessary security or delivery technologies. Opening Paddle checkout may cause Paddle to use its own cookies or similar technologies under Paddle's notices. 9. Children
WezoPlayer is not directed to children under 13. The installer may offer an optional age-range response that includes “Under 18”; this is not used to solicit personal data from children and may be skipped. We do not knowingly seek personal data from a child where parental consent or another legal basis would be required.
10. Security
We use reasonable technical and organisational measures designed to protect information against accidental or unlawful destruction, loss, alteration, unauthorised disclosure or access. No software, network or storage method can be guaranteed completely secure.
11. Changes
We may update this Policy when features, providers or legal requirements change. The date at the top identifies the current version. Where a material change requires additional notice or consent, we will provide it as required by applicable law.
